Frequently Asked Questions for one-to-one therapy sessions

  • Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) combines the most effective elements of Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neurolinguistic Programming and gentle hypnosis to directly access and change unhelpful thoughts, beliefs or behaviours that may have been there for many years.

I teach you how to communicate with your subconscious mind and transform your thoughts, emotions, behaviour and confidence.

The techniques I teach create new neural pathways in the brain, leaving you wired to change and stay changed.

I also combine these techniques with the principles of strengths psychology, which discovers your innate natural personality strengths and how to use them most effectively.

I aim to deliver permanent change in just one to three sessions

  • I help people to discover and remove the “root-cause” of physical and emotional issues which have been caused by stress, difficult circumstances, or trauma in their lives, even if these events cannot be consciously remembered.

Clients come to me with a wide variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, chronic stress, low self-esteem, panic attacks, self-sabotaging or harming behaviours, addictions, fears and phobias, compulsive behaviours, physical conditions, auto-immune disorders, chronic pain, imposter syndrome, relationship issues, anger issues, intrusive negative thoughts, flashbacks, sleep issues, sexual issues etc

  • Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that we all experience every day when our conscious thoughts drift away, for example when we drive on “auto-pilot” along a familiar route, or when we “zone out” for a few moments.

Our subconscious mind runs most of our thoughts and behaviour, we are just not aware of our ‘programming’.

Hypnosis enables us to access this “programming” and understand where certain beliefs and behaviours have come from and how they have influenced us. This understanding enables us to ‘update the software’ and let go of unhelpful thoughts or beliefs while installing the ones we want.

  • The best thing you can do is as little as possible! Just follow my voice and allow yourself to let go of your conscious thoughts. If this is unfamiliar to you then listening a few times to the pre-session recording I send to you before your session will prepare you perfectly. The less you try to ‘do’, the better.

  • Yes you will always remain aware of your surroundings and will be fully in control at all times. You can open your eyes or go to the toilet etc at any time.

  • A session for adults is two hours long. For teenagers and children I usually offer shorter sessions.

I offer a bespoke package of joint and 1:1 sessions for couples.

  • You will have a 60 minute (shorter for children) review session after listening to your recording for at least 21 days.

The majority of clients find that their issue has gone by the time of the review session. Hover, there are four main reasons you might choose to have more sessions:

    a) You are experiencing an on-going or evolving issue and you would like my support as the situation progresses or changes.

    b) Your first session began the process of self-discovery and you feel there are more ‘layers’ to how you are feeling or behaving that you would now like to look at.

    c) You would like to have a session on a different issue.

    d) You would like continued / longer-lasting support with your self-awareness and self-development journey.

*Sessions can be arranged on a regular or an ‘as and when’ basis to meet your needs.

  • Usually it’s best for a teenager or child to have the session on their own. However, in particular circumstances it would be possible to stay with your child. We can discuss this and decide together what is in the young person’s best interests.

  • You can come on your own about a relationship issue, or with your partner.

  • It is normal to feel a little nervous, just as you would before doing anything for the first time. You are in safe hands though, so allow yourself to feel excitement rather than nerves.

During the session clients universally feel relaxed and calm. After the session it is normal to feel both very energised and light, or perhaps tired and possibly tearful. Either of these are very normal, as are many other feelings. Clients generally report feeling freer and empowered.

  • Our brain learns through repetition. Nothing is actually “difficult” but change is unfamiliar so the best thing you can do to rapidly install new beliefs, emotions and behaviours is to LISTEN as often as possible to your recording. Research shows that new habits take up to 21 days to form so listening for at least 21 days is vitally important. After 21 days you can still listen to your recording as often as you like.

  • If you would like anything changed or added to your recording feel free to let me know. After 21 days of listening you may also like to make your own recording using your own voice and words (or the voice of a parent in the case of children or teenagers).

  • We experience change in three different ways: 1. Instantly; 2. Cumulatively; 3. Retrospectively.

    1. Instantly – the knowledge you experienced during your session about the root-cause of your unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, emotions or behaviours will have instantly changed your awareness which means your insight has changed and you can never go back. You will also have experienced instant change with the realisation that your ‘true self’ was originally free from these issues, and so they were never really ‘you’ and you can ‘give them back’ and be free of them.

    2. Cumulatively – new beliefs, thoughts, emotions and patterns of behaviour can be built upon step-by-step. This is where the recording comes in. The less you do the better when listening to the recording because your subconscious mind works best when your conscious mind switches off. So listen to your recording when you are as relaxed as possible and doing as little ‘thinking’ as possible. Then you will experience the cumulative changes as they build and build.

    3. Retrospectively – this means the changes you will notice when you look back to how you were before you had your RTT session. Sometimes changes are easier to notice once some time has passed and you realise that you are thinking, feeling and behaving differently.

Look out for all of the above ways that you are changing and if possible keep a diary and let me know at your follow-up session what you have noticed.
